Tossing the Razor for the Laser...Part 1

September 11, 2017

What exactly is Laser Hair Removal?
It is a procedure that uses an intense beam of light to remove unwanted hair from the face or body. The heat from this beam damages the hair follicle to inhibit further hair growth thus leaving you free from future shaving or waxing

So Why Laser Hair Removal?
Well, are you sick of shaving, plucking, waxing, ingrown hairs, razor rashes, shaving nicks, etc? Then Laser Hair Removal is for you. It is the most effective form of hair removal above shaving or waxing

What is the difference between Laser and IPL

Both emit energy to disrupt the growth of the hair follicle but the biggest difference is the technology itself

Laser machines produce a singular wavelength of light. This concentrated beam of light creates heat that targets the pigment in the hair follicle. Because a laser creates more heat it makes it more effective for hair removal than an IPL. The heat from the laser is absorbed into the follicle it reduces damage on the skin and is safer for those with darker skin types

Is IPL a laser?

IPL’s are not lasers. They produce multiple wavelengths of light and because these wavelengths only penetrate at certain depths, not all of them are effective for hair removal

IPL’S shallow penetration compared to a laser means that deeper, thicker hairs will not treated as effectively. Also, some of the light can’t be absorbed into the surrounding tissue as well, which heats up the pigment in the skin which is why there is more of a risk of burns for a darker skin type

Head spinning? I'll leave you with this until the next post, I have much more to share...
